L’“economia” della misericordia. La «In psalmum XCIII interpretatio» di Iacopo Sadoleto e l’uso teologico-politico del tema erasmiano del beneficio di Cristo

The purpose of this article is to analyse the commentary on the 93rd Psalm, In Psalmum XCIII interpretatio, by Iacopo Sadoleto, dated 1530, and to show Sadoleto’s reception of the Erasmian themes of God’s immense mercy and of the benefit of Christ in an anti-Lutheran key. In this way, it is possible to focus on Sadoleto’s main theological-political strategy, committed to the fundamental attempt to reaffirm the full consonance of Erasmus’ proposal of religious renewal with the Roman Catholic perspective.
